New Consultant Spotlight: Bill Bubenik

*A quick note: Bill Bubenik isn't our typical consultant, so before we introduce him, we have to let you in on a little secret…
For the last year or so, our team has been busy expanding our service offerings to offer even more value to our clients. For the next few weeks, our Consultant Spotlight articles will continue to highlight an exceptional individual, but we'll also share more about these new services - such as marketing, recruiting, sales team trainings, EVM, and (this week) branding. We recently brought Bill on as one of these new-service providers. Because we have so much to tell you about, this article is Part 1 of 2 (coming next week). Now, let's get to know Bill, his work, and the power of great branding!

Bill Bubenik is an enormous, exuberant grizzly of a man with a wicked sense of humor and an infectious smile.

His down-to-earth manner is well-balanced by the confidence of a man adept in his craft. He studied fine art and then, eventually, graphic design at college, where he fell in love with the artform and the prospect of getting paid to make art! For the next 16 years, Bill worked on creative teams at large companies, gaining experience in digital art, design, branding, and online marketing; and several years into his career, moved into leadership positions such as Creative Director and Lead Designer.

During these formative years, Bill met and married his wife Calen. Only a handful of years later, he became a doting dad to his 3 little girls. Nothing else fills him with more pride and purpose than parenting his daughters with his wife. As they grew, Bill began to feel a gnawing dissatisfaction with continuing to work for big companies. He knew it was time to stretch his legs (artistically speaking) and rediscover his creative curiosity. It was time to go to work – for himself.

So, roughly a year ago, he did just that. Bill and his brother/business partner Joseph founded bigdirty.agency - a branding agency on a mission to help companies clean up their brands. Shortly after the company opened its doors, we asked Bill to be our first-ever branding consultant/service-provider. He's new to the team, but we’ve already seen him tackle complex cases with aplomb, proving his wide range of creative and strategic skills.

So, what exactly does Bill do for his clients?

Bill is a big-picture type of creative, so he excels at high-level strategic planning.

His favorite client is a company with good bones and strong vision, but lacking the skills needed to whip their online presence into a cohesive, compelling shape. They know who they are and where they want to go, but unfortunately, their messy, uncompelling brand isn't helping them reach their target audience or accomplish their goals. Enter: Bill (and the bigdirty review).

This initial review works essentially like a report card where each individual element of the client's existing brand - visuals, audio, messaging, cohesion - is subjected to Bill's quality assessment. At this juncture, things can go a couple different ways, depending on how involved his client wishes to be with cleanup process. Assuming they don't want to stop there, Bill's next step is to help them make a plan...
